Solar Cooking Beans in Winter

Today is December 31 and the sun is shining in Bonsall.
At 8:15 I put my standard winter batch of beans (2 cups beans, 5 cups water). Starting temperature is 57º F.
At 9:15 a.m. the beans have reached 145º F.

  1. Yay! That is just wonderful Jim! I cooked rice in my cooker a few days ago and I almost OVERCOOKED them!! Forgot them in the sun! And this in San Marcos during winter time. Wonderful cooker!!

  2. By 10:15 a.m. the beans were boiling, so no higher temperatures after that. When I took them in at 3 p.m. the water had mostly boiled off. Perfect tender winter beans.
